Cover art --- What is he holding?

LOL. This is book 3 of my Dragon Lord series, The Dark Prince. I'd been asked a few times, but after recieving yet another email about it, I decided it would make for a funny blog. The question was this, what exactly is the Dark Prince holding in his hand? Most times this comes from people seeing the smaller coverart on a bookmark they have of mine. But, if you look here, you see it's just his hand on his upper thigh:
