Children of Leningradsky

If you haven't seen this documentary, I highly recommend it. It was nomiated for an academy award, and very deservingly so. But, I'm warning you, it's heartbreaking. I wanted to adopt them all, or in the very least run up and give them all a hug. I have a soft spot for kids.

Okay, I admit it. I sometimes enjoy quizzes, especially while avoiding work. (which I seem to be doing a lot of lately--I've never felt like such a slacker)

We bought and RV today. Going to take off cross country and ... okay, can't really just take off, but just looking at it makes me want to. John Steinbeck, look out. Here I come!

I'm ready to conquer the world! Hey, why's everyone running and hiding? Hmm.

Little Annoyances...
Ever have those things that just grate on your nerves? Let it out people, tell the world all about them! I have many, but then I'm neurotic. LOL I want to hear about those little annoying things people do that you can't stand. Here's a few mentioned recently to me to get you started.

  • the 'burp and blow'
  • clicking fingernails or pen caps
  • when people leave empty cartons in the fridge/cupboard, or worse only a swallow left in the container
  • slow drivers when you can't pass
  • cell phone chatty drivers

  • creaking floorboards
  • the sound of rapid breathing
  • heartbeats
  • metal scraping metal
  • rattlesnake tails shaking
  • old church choir music/choirboys singing Latin

What noises scare you?

Cupid's Revenge New Cover
Coming REALLY soon...

An UNEDITED excerpt from NAUGHTY CUPID: CUPID's REVENGE (book 2) by
MICHELLE M. PILLOW, NCP.
http://www.newconceptspublishing.com/michellempillow.htm

Prologue

Damn the lycans anyway! Cupid’s little black eyes flashed with an inner fire. And damn the council of immortal elders! So what if he took his vengeance out on Ilar by entrancing the whole Lycan Guard at Lycaon to one mortal woman? It’s not like anyone had gotten hurt. Besides, Ilar, Commander of the Guard, deserved it for making fun of him -- just as he deserved being forced to lifemate to an ugly human woman.

Cupid shivered in disgust to think of how his plan had backfired. Ilar had fallen in love with the hideous mortal and they were living their fairy tale, happily ever after. It was disgustingly romantic. It was hideously repulsive. It was unbearable to think about.

Bah! Ach!

Now he had to listen to the other trolls tease each time he saw them. They called him a cherub, a matchmaker, a rosy-faced babe who spread love and goodness throughout the world. If he had another basket of love darts left outside his cave door, he’d scream so loud the whole realm of magic would collapse in on itself.

Bah! Bah! Double bah!

Cupid hated the elders. He hated goodness and happiness. He hated Ilar and Rhiannon, his ugly human lifemate. He hated the council. He hated the realm of magic and the realm of mortals. He hated everyone and everything.

And, above all things, he hated love!

His humiliation wouldn’t have been so widely known if the council of immortal elders hadn’t been called forth. He blamed Larus, the elected king of the lycans, for that one. It was Larus’ court at Lycaon that had been affected by his small enchantment prank. He merely made the mortal woman irresistible to the lycan kind and brought the whole court howling to their knees with lust.

But, could the lycan king let it go? No! He had to draw attention to the fact that Cupid had found love for Lord Ilar and Lady Rhiannon. He had to tell everyone who would listen to him that Cupid was personally responsible for Ilar’s eternal happiness.

Now he’d never live his reputation down. First, he accidentally hit a man instead of a goat with a love dart, causing one couple to fall in love four hundred years ago, and now this. He was going to be branded for his immortal life as a matchmaker. It was beyond torture, beyond fair and right, beyond tolerable.

And, as far as Cupid could see, it was King Larus who needed to pay for that!

There are worse jobs out there
There are some bad jobs out there. I think we all have to remember that sometimes when we're down about what we do. Everyone hates there career choice at one time or antoher. Right now, I want to drown my characters, beat them to a pulp and then drown them again.

To me a worse job would be anything to do with smells. *hats off the sanitation crews* Heavy manual labor under the hot sun would be another.

My worst job was telemarketing. I hated it. 1 I hate talking on the phone like that 2 I hate trying to sell something someone probably doesnt need 3 I hated the company. Some people are cut out for sales like that but not me. And it probably would depend on what you're selling. Me? We'll just call it Snake Oil and leave it at that. lol

So, what I want to know today is, what was your worst job and why?

Supernatural VS Science
I think it's natural to want to rationalize the unnatural but it's a little sad when science can dispel superstitions as being just that--superstitions. Or like when the guys admitted to staging our dear friend Nessie. There had to be some mystery left in the world. We need mystery. At least I do. But, sometimes, the explanation isn't good enough or can be dispelled itself. The unexplained, remains just that--unexplained. Great, now my head is spinning.

Which do you prefer? The explained or unexplained? Which do you believe? Science or superstition? Is it possible that things like vampire exist? UFOS? Let me hear your thoughts on it.

Princess Dreams
Come on, we all have them. Or at least we should. I think it's sad when there are no more dreams of being a Princess (or for some of you that swing in the opposite direction of my personal preferences--firemen, lol)

I admit it. I'm steadily reaching 30. I have a job--two real ones in fact, the family life, responsibility and still I manage to sing opera (badly, I might add) at the top of my lungs for the hell of it and dance ballet in my kitchen. I get wide-eyed and lost in movies and books. I still have dreams of being a fairytale Princess, a fashion designer, a punk rocker with blue or red hair. I want magickal powers (even if they only did so much as clean the house with a point of the finger). I want to be an artist, get my photographs published or even up in a gallery. I want to speak another language and play guitar, see something unmistakably paranormal or supernatural in my life time. I want to travel the world--every last inch of it. I want to live in a castle, or a Spanish style villa with the enclosed center courtyard.

Even more recently I've decided I want someone to take me under their wing and teach me how to use Poser. The graphic art they're doing these days just ROCK! I'm so jealous of that talent.

So, here's my question. What are your dreams? The big ones? The secret ones? The ones you think may never come true and yet you dream them anyway?

Legs the Hamster

We got a new little pet today--just another addition to the zoo that is my life -- African Grey parrot, tons of fish, 2 prairie dogs, a bunny, 2 cats, an adoptive neighbor cat who for some reason thinks he needs to live inside my house as well, a duck, a dog and now two dwarf hamsters. Did I forget anything? Possible. Very Possible.

Anyway, how could I resist Legs? A cage fell on the poor thing when he was little and he can't use his back legs. They drag behind him. His upper body is huge to compensate. And when I say huge, I really mean tiny. Plus, he's just about the friendliest little furry thing.

Say Hello To My Little Friend
Ugh, woke up yesterday morning with a new best friend. I'm calling her Marcy and she's taken residence on my cheek, about where a beauty mark would go. Only Marcy isn't too pretty. And she's a little painful. (Anyone ever see that episode of the family guy, where Chris gets that giant zit who tells him to do bad things?)

You'd think Marcy would know she's overstaying her welcome, but she's still here this morning, which prompted me to write this little rant. Come on, what's up? High School is over.

Duck

This is the little duck we rescued and is now living in my back yard. He loves the swimming pool. Yes, the water is green...ew... but I'm too scared to shock it with chlorine and let him play in it, so for now, it's his. lol. He was born late in the season and will most likely not fly off for the winter.

When he was a baby, he was actually a little scared of swimming. I put him in the bathtub and he'd stand up on his tiptoes and refuse to swim. He's doing it like a pro now. Next trick is flying. He's just about there, but I think he prefers me carrying him from his pen to the pool.

Wicked Lucidity

First of all, I LOVE THIS TITLE! And the purple and the fact that Mandy FINALLY wrote me into a book as the sexy kickass heroine that I really am. LOL Just kidding. I'm still working on her doing that one for me. Though, she keeps killing off the Michelle character in the first paragraph. Hmm, Wonder what that means? Anyway. I highly recommend this book. 1 Mandy's cool. 2 It's a really good book 3 The chick dances around on the front lawn in playclothes--as an adult. What more do you really need in a book? Hunky Men? Yep, got those too. Sex, violence...well, it is a Mandy Roth book, isn't it?

Buy this book because I said so, lol
